Regional Wood Products Consortium

Regional Wood Products Consortium

The Regional Wood Products Consortium is a collaboration between Sustainable Forest Futures (SFF) and the wood products manufacturing industry in the 4-state region encompassing Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and northern New York. The Consortium assists the wood products manufacturing industry in the region in pursuing innovation opportunities and improving access to markets with the goal of enhancing economic competitiveness.

SFF coordinates Consortium activities through strong partnerships with several key wood products industry trade associations including a national trade association and a statewide trade association in each of the four states. Together, these five trade association have approximately 250 wood products manufacturing companies in the region as members. These trade association partners are as follows:Trade Association Logos.jpg

Leaders of each of these trade associations serve on the SFF Board of Directors.

Participation in Consortium activities is open to all wood products manufacturing companies in the region, not just members of these trade associations.

Consortium Conducts Specialized Innovation Workshops

The Regional Wood Products Consortium conducted a series of specialized one day innovation workshops, geared to leaders of small and medium sized wood products companies, to assist them in deciding whether to pursue particular innovations. This initial series of workshops began in the Spring of 2010 and continued through October 2011. Over time, other events will be scheduled to advance innovation and market access for the region's wood products industry.

Follow-up financial and technical assistance is being provided to companies interested in pursuing innovations flowing from their participation in the workshops.

Additional Consortium initiatives are being developed to enhance the economic competitiveness of the region's wood products industry.
